What is the Test Format ?
All candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules. There is an option of either Academic or General training in the Reading and Writing Modules. It takes about 3 hours to complete the Listening, Reading and Writing. Speaking test is conducted in the afternoon on the same day. The candidate must reserve the whole day for the examination.
Only at IDP Bangkok (Saturday test), you may choose to do speaking test either on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Please contact IELTS staff for more detail at 02 638 3111.
Which Module should I sit for, Academic or General Training ?
Academic Module is suitable for candidates planning to undertake higher education study. General Training Module is suitable for candidates planning to undertake non-academic training or work experience, or for immigration purposes.
It is the responsibility of the candidate to inform the test centre whether they wish to take the Academic or General Training Modules. Centres are not responsible for providing this information. The general Training module is not offered at all test administrations. It must be noted that it may not be possible to change module later or on the day of the test.
Is the IELTS result from IDP acceptable in UK?
Yes. Test results from IDP are acceptable worldwide for any institutes that require IELTS result as part of their applications.
Is there any age limit for IELTS ?
There is no age limite for IELTS; however it is not recommended for candidates under the age of 16
For how long is a test result valid ?
There are a number of variables affecting the length of time over which an IELTS score remains valid. In general, the result is valid for 2 years.
How soon can I repeat the test ?
From 1 May 2006 the policy on candidates re-taking IELTS has been amended. The restriction on re-taking IELTS within 90 days has been removed and candidates are able to repeat the test whenever they wish. Candidates will still be asked to indicate on their application form whether they have taken the test before. This information will appear on the Test Report Form and will only be used for monitoring purposes.

When will I know the IELTS results ?
You can collect the original TRF (Test Report Form) from the test centre 13 days after the test date. Uncollected TRFs will be mailed to those respective candidates who have made a request by Express Mail Service (EMS) or Registered Mail (if outside Thailand). You must bring proof of identity (Original Passport or Thai National ID ONLY) if you choose to collect the TRF in person.
Can somebody get IELTS result on my behalf ?
If someone else will be collecting your TRF for you, a signed copy of your proof of identity and a signed letter of authority (in English) must be given to our staff at the Registration Desk.
Please ensure that all signatures must be the same as the one you signed on the test day. The authorized person will also need to present their original Thai ID card/passport to our staff.
